In the lesson today
we listened to examples of radio trailers, and established the codes and conventions of the genre.

Voiceover Recording
Today we recorded the voiceover, which will be placed in appropriate places throughout the documentary.
We used Mrs.Courtney, (media teacher), because: our target rage is 16-25, and Mrs.Courtney herself fits into this target range. She also has a clear voice which is easy to understand.

Editing
I was in charge of editing the 5 minute extract of the documentary, because Gemma was doing the Newspaper Advertisement and Taylor was doing the Radio Trailer. Over the course of the lessons I took screengrabs to show the process.

Edit Decision List
Now that we have decided what shots we are going to use, we need to put them in the right order! As a group we have completed an edit decision list. This is where we transferred information from the tape log sheets, putting all the footage in the final intended order of your production.

Logging
As a group we have viewed the tapes, and completed the tape log sheets as we watched them. This is where we have listed all of the footage on the tapes in the order which it appears, even if we don't intend to use it in our final production. We have indicated on the sheets which footage is to be used in the final production (by stating yes).

Filming: Re Filming Opening Titles
During the lesson today, we re filmed our opening title sequence as myself and the group as well as Mr Fraser (our teacher) were not happy with it: The framing was incorrect as there was too much space either side of Karlea, and also, the detail on the T-Shirt was unclear, you could not tell what bands/faces/text was on the T-Shirts.
This time, although we kept with the original idea of taking the T-Shirts off, we have decided to film it in extreme close up, so you can only see the main body of the T-Shirt (chest area) - so it is clear to see what is on the T-Shirt. The final T-Shirt to be seen is the one we had printed, which has the title of our documentary on it. Here it is:

Filming: Opening Titles
Today during our lesson, myself and the group filmed the opening titles for our documentary. We filmed Karlea Baker wearing 8 T-Shirts - the last one being the one that we had printed with the documentary title on. The idea we had was for Karlea to wear all 8 T-Shirts at once, take one off a time to reveal the one underneath, until the documentary title is revealed. Then, when editing we would speed the process up.
Additionally, as a back up plan in case we did not like/approve of the filming of Karlea, we had Olivia Cunningham wear each T-Shirt and took a picture of each separate T-Shirt. Here are the pictures that we took:

Filming: Sociologist
Today myself and Gemma conducted an interview with Mrs. Ferraby, one of the school's Sociology teachers. The interview is about conformity, and how people in society conform in order to fit in with what they wear.
1. Explain what conformity is, and why you think people conform
2. Why do people wear T-Shirts that say something about them?
3. Why do people wear T-Shirts in order to fit into a specific social group?
4. How is clothing used to distinguish different social groups? And how important is clothing to these different social groups?
5. How many T-Shirts do you own?
6. What is your favourite T-Shirt and why?

Filming: T-Shirt Printer's and Voxpops
Today we went to Birkenhead Market and interviewed a woman who works in Image Printers. We asked them the same questions as we did to the man who worked in Desk Top Print, however, the woman's answers were a lot more detailed and interesting. She seemed a lot more enthusiastic about her job as a whole.
1. What are the different methods of printing T-Shirts?
2. Which method of T-Shirt printing is most effective and why?
3. Which method is most popular?
4. How do you work out how much to charge for each T-Shirt that you print?
5. On average, how many T-Shirts do you print a day?
6. What is the most unusual request that you have had to be printed onto a T-Shirt?
7. Where do you draw the line with what you print onto a T-Shirt?
8. How and why did you become a T-Shirt printer?
9. What is the best thing about your job?
10. What is the worst thing about your job?
11. Do you print any T-Shirts for yourself?
12. How many T-Shirts do you own?
13. Which is your favourite T-Shirt and why?
Additionally, due to us having some time left before we needed to be back in school, we carried out a few more Voxpops. Unsurprisingly, just like the last time, only one person stopped for us. However, we got the answers that we needed.
