Filming: T-Shirt Printers

Today we headed over into Liverpool City Centre and interviewed a man who works in Desk Top Printing (Bold Street). We also filmed cutaways of the shop, T-shirts that he had printed in the past, and also the machines and printers that he uses regularly.

1. What are the different methods of printing T-Shirts?
2. Which method of T-Shirt printing is most effective and why?
3. Which method is most popular?
4. How do you work out how much to charge for each T-Shirt that you print?
5. On average, how many T-Shirts do you print a day?
6. What is the most unusual request that you have had to be printed onto a T-Shirt?
7. Where do you draw the line with what you print onto a T-Shirt?
8. How and why did you become a T-Shirt printer?
9. What is the best thing about your job?
10. What is the worst thing about your job?
11. Do you print any T-Shirts for yourself?
12. How many T-Shirts do you own?
13. Which is your favourite T-Shirt and why?

Unfortunately, the answers in which the man gave were not very detailed, and arguably a little boring, and so as a group we have decided to interview another T-Shirt printer in the hope of getting better, more interesting answers to our questions.

Filming: Re Filming of Pulp

Today we went back over to Pulp, Liverpool, to re film the interview as the background music in the first attempt is a little loud. As well as doing the interview again, we filmed more cutaways both inside and outside the store, and this time we were a little more creative with the way in which we filmed. We now have a variety of cutaways that we could use in our documentary.

1. Explain your job role to us
2. On average, how many T-Shirts do you sell in a day?
3. Tell us about the variety of T-Shirts you sell
4. How often do you get new T-Shirts in stock?
5. What happens with the T-Shirts that are not as often and do no get sold?
6. What T-Shirt do you think is most popular in store?
7. What T-Shirts are most fashionable at the moment?
8. Have you noticed any trends in store?
9. What clothing companies do you stock in store? Explain why they are so popular
10. Why do you stock American brands in store?
11. Explain why band merchandising is so important in the music industry?
12. Do you think T-Shirts are important within Rock music? Explain your answer
13. Why do you think people wear T-Shirts that reflect their personality or hobbies?
14. What is your favourite T-Shirts in store?
15. What is the most expensive T-Shirt in store and why?
16. Describe a typical Pulp customer?
17. What is your favourite T-Shirt that you own?
18. What do you think it says about you?

Research for Documentary

Our group are now ready to conduct all research for our programme, which will be both Primary and Secondary.

PRIMARY RESEARCH
This included things such as finding interviewees for the programme, finding locations for filming, finding props for the mise-en-scene of interviews etc.

Firstly, we decided to research T-Shirt printers in both Birkenhead and Liverpool-as these would be easily accessible for us.

Secondly, we researched what shops there were in Liverpool One by going onto the Liverpool One website-so we could decide which shop was the most ideal to feature in our documentary.

As a group, we decided that the most suitable shops were: Pulp, New Look, River Island, Primark.

SECONDARY
This is predominantly for archive material, which includes things such as extracts from newspapers. We looked on the website of local newspapers such as Daily Mail, Liverpool Echo etc. Newspaper articles that we found were:
