Filming: Voxpops Liscard

During two free periods, myself and Gemma went to Liscard (local shopping centre) with the intention of filming Voxpops, however, in the two hours that we were there, only three people stopped for us, and so we have planned to go again at a later date-but this time to either Birkenhead or Liverpool as they have a lot more shops and so hopefully more people will be willing to answer our questions.

Filming: People Who Regularly Wear T-Shirts

Today during the lesson, we interviewed Adam Roberts and Charlotte Evans, about when and why they wear T-Shirts and what they like about them etc. We also filmed different shots of T-Shirts that they had brought in to be used as cutaways. We would have liked to have carried out both interviews in front of an open wardrobe, but due to lack of timing we had to film in school, and so the interviews were filmed in Big Close Up.

1. What is it you like about wearing T-Shirts?
2. How many T-Shirts do you own?
3. Do you have any memories connected with any T-Shirts?
4. Describe your favourite T-Shirt and why
5. Describe your least favourite T-Shirt and why
6. What is the most you have paid for a T-Shirt in the past? What is your limit?
7. Where do you buy your T-Shirts from?

Filming: People Who Regularly Wear T-Shirts

Today, after school, we interviewed Gemma's dad and brother about their collection of T-Shirts: how many they own, why they wears them, what are their favourite/least favourite T-Shirts and why etc. The reason we filmed Gemma's dad is because he does not fit into our target range which is 16-25, so we thought it would be interesting to find out what older people wear in terms of T-Shirts. The reason why we interviewed Gemma's brother is because he does fit into our target range.

1. What is it you like about wearing T-Shirts?
2. How many T-Shirts do you own?
3. Do you have any memories connected with any T-Shirts?
4. Describe your favourite T-Shirt and why
5. Describe your least favourite T-Shirt and why
6. What is the most you have paid for a T-Shirt in the past? What is your limit?
7. Where do you buy your T-Shirts from?

Filming: Textiles Teacher

Today, at lunch time, we interviewed one of the school's Textile's teachers about how T-shirts are made/designed, and how they have changed over time. The interview was carried out in her room as it relates to both herself and the topic of the documentary. We also filmed shots of her room that we can use as cutaways.

1. How have T-Shirts changed/progressed over the years?
2. Why do you think T-Shirts are so popular?
3. What is it do you think about T-Shirts, that make them such a classic item of clothing?
4. Is there ever a wrong time to wear a T-Shirt?
5. How many T-Shirts do you own?
6. Which is your favourite T-Shirt and why?
7. Why do you think people wear T-Shirts in order to fit into a particular group social group?

Filming: People who regularly wear T-Shirts

Today we conducted two interviews: one with Bethany Johnson and the other with James Costello - who wear T-Shirts on a regular basis. Although we asked them both the same set of questions, with James there was particular emphasis on his Band T-Shirts, as they are the only T-Shirts that he wears. Whereas Beth wears a variety of T-Shirts.

Because James forgot to bring in his T-Shirts, we arranged to filmed the cutaways another day. Here are pictures of us filming cutaways of James and his T-Shirts, as well as taking still images.

4. How do you work out how much to charge for each T-Shirt that you print?
5. On average, how many T-Shirts do you print a day?
6. What is the most unusual request that you have had to be printed onto a T-Shirt?
7. Where do you draw the line with what you print onto a T-Shirt?
8. How and why did you become a T-Shirt printer?
9. What is the best thing about your job?

Unfortunately, the answers in which the man gave were not very detailed, and arguably a little boring, and so as a group we have decided to interview another T-Shirt printer in the hope of getting better, more interesting answers to our questions.

Filming: Re Filming of Pulp

Today we went back over to Pulp, Liverpool, to re film the interview as the background music in the first attempt is a little loud. As well as doing the interview again, we filmed more cutaways both inside and outside the store, and this time we were a little more creative with the way in which we filmed. We now have a variety of cutaways that we could use in our documentary.

1. Explain your job role to us
2. On average, how many T-Shirts do you sell in a day?
3. Tell us about the variety of T-Shirts you sell
4. How often do you get new T-Shirts in stock?
5. What happens with the T-Shirts that are not as often and do no get sold?
6. What T-Shirt do you think is most popular in store?
7. What T-Shirts are most fashionable at the moment?
8. Have you noticed any trends in store?
9. What clothing companies do you stock in store? Explain why they are so popular
10. Why do you stock American brands in store?
11. Explain why band merchandising is so important in the music industry?

Planning

Now that we are almost ready to film, as a group we have created:

Now that we have a plan of all the material we want to include in our documentary, we have decided how, and in what order, it will be used.
We have written a detailed running order for the whole 30 minute programme.

Research for Documentary

Our group are now ready to conduct all research for our programme, which will be both Primary and Secondary.

PRIMARY RESEARCH
This included things such as finding interviewees for the programme, finding locations for filming, finding props for the mise-en-scene of interviews etc.

Firstly, we decided to research T-Shirt printers in both Birkenhead and Liverpool-as these would be easily accessible for us.

Secondly, we researched what shops there were in Liverpool One by going onto the Liverpool One website-so we could decide which shop was the most ideal to feature in our documentary.

As a group, we decided that the most suitable shops were: Pulp, New Look, River Island, Primark.

SECONDARY
This is predominantly for archive material, which includes things such as extracts from newspapers. We looked on the website of local newspapers such as Daily Mail, Liverpool Echo etc. Newspaper articles that we found were:
